My Win10 Sony Vaio Laptop do not recognise any of USB-ports my TomTom navigator or Sony Action Cam but it recognise e.g. Apple Phones Photos. earlier there was no problems. How to fix the problem? The same problem is also in my other Win 10 Asus PC both Intel inside, Device Manager tells ports be ok. I suspect maybe the security updates are to blame ?/Date 2023.03.27

Sony Vaio Not Recognising Battery

Hi there
If the screen is OK it will work off the mains without a problem.
Note though I don't think Sony VAIO's of that series had any USB 3 pors only USB2. . BTW it's easy to replace the 2.5 inch laptop disk with an SSD - no tools needed oncce you've opened the PC. New one just plugs straight in,

I still use from time to time since mine has a built in DVD drive - It's handy if I need to get stuff from a physical DVD / CD on to my NAS -- including ripping CD's and DVD's, I'm still running W7 on it - might try W10 but I doubt the "Sony" card reader will work on W10.

This place might still have batteries for these PCGxxx models -- UK sourced but no VAT if exported.

Sony Vaio Will Not Boot From Cloned SSD

I have cloned the 500 Mbt HD of a Sony Vaio to a 256 Gbt SSD using Aomei backuper and it will not boot.

The error is: Your PC needs to be repaired, Error 0xc0000225

The old HD boots fine so obviously the the ssd isn't an exact clone. Sony do make a complicated HD with 7 partitions which might have something to do with it. The bios recognises the ssd.

I have tried booting form a Win10 usb and startup repair can't fix it.

I am wondering if I would be better off with a fresh Win 10 installation, although I will lose the original Sony configuration and drivers.

Another possibility is to find a better way to copy the original HD to the SSD.

Or there may be a way to repair the Win 10 installation on the ssd.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Win 10 on SSD (external?) on Sony Vaio laptop

I've Win7 on my Sony Vaio laptop (VPCF11PFX/H), which is very slow even if I've just one application open and lot of bloatware. I'm planning to upgrade to Win10 soon, but was wondering if it would be beneficial to add SSD to it (5yrs old).

1. If I want Win10 to be booted through SSD, would an external SSD work? I read apps can't be installed on external drives.
   
2. If I use external SSD, would I be using the speed it offers - specs say my laptop has [USB Port(s): 2 (USB) 2.0, 1 (eSATA)].
   
3. Can I have both existing HDD and internal SSD operational together(if external isn't worth).
