My WIN10 system cannot show some file names in Chinese correctly.

Not all the files but part of them, the WIN10 system shown the Chinese file names in messy code.

How can i solve this problem. I already tried to change the system language and locations but all failed.

By the way, the excel macros also cannot work on Chinese character missions.

    :)

  2. directory listing file does not show Greek names correctly

Thank you very much for your reply. I did it but it did not solve the problem. The answer was ???????? ?????? in GR.doc in the dirlst2.txt.
My desktop runs WIN10 ver 1909 (build 18363535

I have to add a few info concerning the installation of windows.
    - Win10 were installed with English as installation language. Greek was added as second language later.
    - when the prime language is English then even in command prompt the dir listing of a file with greek name is not displayed correctly but with garbage characters in name
    - when primary language is defined Greek then the file name is correct in command prompt listing but not in the file produced by dir *.* >c:\tmp\dirlst.txt command

  3. directory listing file does not show Greek names correctly

    In command prompt:
List of directory eg dir *.* lists directory file names.
The greek file names are listed in Greek correctly. BUT when send dir listing to file eg dir *.* >c:\tmp\dirlst.txt and then openning the c:\tmp\dirlst.txt file the file names in Greek are not displayed correctly
07/31/1997 11:37 PM 10,752 προχειρο αρχειο in GR.doc --- the correct display in command prompt
    07/31/1997 11:37 PM -----> 10,752 §¨¦®œ ¨¦ ˜¨®œ ¦ in GR.doc file in c:\tmp\dirlst.txt file

Any idea on how to tackle with this? Thanks a lot

My WIN10 system cannot show some file names in Chinese correctly.

File explorer chinese files names and phantom files.

When I launch file explorer and get the home view, it is showing a bunch of filenames in Chinese characters (see attached screenshot) which it says are in the desktop folder. However there are no such files when I look at the desktop folder. WTF? I just ran MalwareBytes and it didn't find anything.
