Windows 10: My Windows 10 computer became "disk read error" during a major update today

My Windows 10 computer is daily used with automatic update finished from time to time, but it prompted a major update today alerting that the system is no longer supported without this update.

I restarted the computer for installing the update, waited for about one and a half hour without any operation, and the computer blacked out with a "disk read error" after several automatic restarts.


I started up the computer with a winpe USB disk and confirmed that my hard disk and the data on the disk are nothing in problem.

I have checked bios settings, boot.ini and MBR, but nothing helps.

I used media creation tool on another computer and created an installing USB disk, but none of the options helps as well, except completely reinstall the windows (which is the last thing I wish to do).


Is there any way left to repair my windows installation?

Startup gives a disk read error.

This is a problem my Mom is having with her computer, so this might be slightly vague.
Until today she was having no problems. However, today she turned the computer on,
got the startup blurb, it went to the Windows loading screen but decided to just stay
on that screen with the Windows loading bar just continuing on its merry way.

She decided to restart the computer, the startup screen came up but then it apparently
went to blue screen of death. She pressed whatever key it was and it went to another
screen that said, 'Disk read error - press Ctrl, Alt, Delete to restart'.

Now since I been speaking to her it just goes straight to the disk read error screen
after the startup screen, no Windows loading, nothing.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

 

Disk Read Errors

OK, earlier, I got a BSOD. Now I'm getting disk read errors. The error on the BSOD was 0x00000F4, and now, when I load up the system, it posts, does everything, then, just beofre it would start loading Windows, it comes up with:

Disk read error
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

Any ideas? I kinda need to get it working ASAP...

Next Major Windows 10 Update Named "Spring Creators Update"

The next Windows 10 service pack major update has been named "Spring Creators Update." Windows Insider Program users toying with Build 17618 of the operating system spotted a listing of all the major updates of Windows 10 known to the build, when running "Get-VMHostSupportedVersion" in Power Shell. The last entry reads "Microsoft Windows 10 Spring Creators Update 1803." The version number (1803 in this case), often coincides with the public release date of the update. The Fall Creators Update 1709, released in 2017-09 (September) to Insiders. Going by that convenion, Spring Creators Update could see a "branded" Insider preview build this month, 2018-03 (March), with a public release usually 3-4 weeks after, presumably before Summer kicks in.
