Windows 10: My windows 10 desktop went black after signing in

After singing into my windows 10 it displayed black screen with my Apps on their regular positions , I shut it down and restarted multiple times and the issue persisted. I went to setting and changed display background colour to typical window 10 blue background.


On return to the desktop after the change, a blue desktop displayed but all my desktop content/Apps has disappeared. Please how do I recover my desktop apps? And what happened to the black screen and the Apps on them as I cant see both apps and the black screen?
