My Windows 10 hasn't updated since April 2017

My Windows 10 stopped updating last April (2017), and I've been trying unsuccessfully to fix this. Hopefully someone can help.

Some data on my system, and things I've tried:

Update history - According to my Windows update history, the last update was:
    Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 x64 Edition - April 2017 (KB890830)
The history does not show any failed / unsuccessful updates.

Windows Update Troubleshooter - I've tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter as administrator. This runs through a couple of steps where I apply the recommended fixes: Repair Windows Update Database Corruption, then Download and Install pending updates. Next it goes to Detecting additional problems - Checking for pending restart. At this point it always gets hung up and goes no further.

Update errors - Lastly, I've tried using the Windows 10 Update Assistant several times over the last weeks. Typically it runs for a couple of hours trying to install an update, and then I get errors. I've gotten error code 0x800700c1 multiple times, and also 0x800704c7 and 0x80070652 at other times. I've tried following the troubleshooting procedures for these errors, but I've been unsuccessful.

Does this make sense to anyone? Thanks.

    :)

  2. Microsoft blocks Windows 10 April Update for Intel SSD 600p Series

Microsoft is blocking some Intel SSDs from installing the April 2018 Update after discovering an incompatibility issue that causes performance and stability issues. In short, the problem was explained by Microsoft as: “When attempting to upgrade to Window 10 April 2018 Update select devices with certain Intel SSDs may enter a UEFI screen reboot or crash repeatedly.” Microsoft says that this issue has no workaround and that those that have attempted to update Windows 10 to the Windows 10 April 2018 Update should revert back to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update version 1709.

Unfortunately, the announcement by Microsoft fails to list what specific Intel SSD models are having issues with the OS update. We contacted Intel and discovered that the Intel SSD 600p Series of client drives that was first introduced to the market in 2016 is the most popular drive that is having issues.

Two major Windows 10 updates scheduled for 2017

It may come as no surprise, but Microsoft won't release another major update for Windows 10 in 2016. The good news is you can expect two big updates to Microsoft’s latest operating system in 2017.

Microsoft let the information slip in a TechNet blog post published earlier in the week. “Windows 10, version 1607 is our third Windows 10 feature update released,” Microsoft said in the blog post. “Based on feedback from organizations moving to Windows 10, this will be our last feature update for 2016, with two additional feature updates expected in 2017.”

The blog post appears to confirm reports from the Windows rumor mill about the timing of the next two updates for Windows 10. The first update, dubbed Redstone 2, is expected to roll out in early 2017 with the second, Redstone 3, landing in the summer or early fall, similar to the timing of the recently released Anniversary Update (previously known as Redstone 1).

This schedule would put Microsoft back on a two updates per year schedule similar to the initial rollout of Windows 10, as Windows Central first pointed out. In 2015, Microsoft released Windows 10 (also known as Threshold) in July and then the November Update(dubbed Threshold 2) three months later.

This time around, Redstone 2 is expected to roll out in the spring and then Redstone 3 should hit about four to six months later.

The impact on you at home: Of the two updates, Redstone 2 looks to be the most interesting so far. Not necessarily because of the features, which are believed to be largely things that weren’t ready for the Anniversary Update. The big deal is that the early 2017 update is expected to roll out in concert with new hardware from Microsoft, asZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley first reported back in March.

Early builds of Redstone 2 are expected to roll out to Windows Insiders in the coming weeks.
