    My Windows 10 is locking up opening a Word file in Office 2010.


    It says at the bottom of the opening page it's running a virus scan. The file opens fine on a laptop. Just locks up and task manager doesn't stop Word, if it opens. If it opens it shows Word as suspended. First time I ever saw this. The computer then won't do anything else and I have to power it down and back on. I know enough about fixing this sort of thing to be very dangerous. My computer guy is dodging me because he did a camera system and I paid him, but he hasn't finished it up yet.

    Maybe the steps here will let you open your old office files?

    I am working in Windows 10 home version 1909.
    Can not afford an upgrade.
    My Office files are old, dont know what version.
    Cant remember how I updated this laptop to Windows 10 months ago.
    PROBLEM:
    I can not open any of my Office files; Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
    I looked for my Windows old file as suggested, and it IS gone.
    Haveing a small breakdown, will step away and return in a few...ANY DIRECTIONS AND ANSWERS WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!! PLEASE WRITE THEM IN STEP BY STEP FORMAT. Thankyooouuuuuuuu!

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
