Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

File Explorer Windows 10 - How do you stop it from opening at startup

That's not Windows 10. Mine opens that stupid window at the startup, and checking the startup folder, there is NO item there saying Files Explorer. That was no help at all.

I installed Windows 10 again and File Explorer opened on bootup.

The box you suggested was unchecked by default. I rebooted the computer and File Explorer opened again.

Under View > Options > there is a box to check to open to "This PC" or "Quick Access." It was set to Quick Access by default. I checked it to "This PC," rebooted and File Explorer opened on the desktop again.

Next, I checked "startup" to see if the folder shows there; it does not.

I turned off the option under settings to "show file explorer at startup," rebooted and it STILL opens to the desktop on bootup.

Upon reading another tip, I rebooted the computer in safe mode. File Explorer did not open in safe mode; however, when I rebooted in regular mode, file explorer opened again.

I think I might like Windows 10 if we can resolve this issue. I do not need or want File Explorer to open every time I turn on my PC.
