  1. My windows 10 is stuck after holding down the power button while it was updating

Hello all. I am aware of my stupidity and know that this was a bad idea.

I came home from dinner one night to find that windows was updating while the laptop a rog strix was in sleep mode. I decided in the moment to hard reboot the laptop and originally it looked as if it were booting normally but then it said undoing changes to your computer for a few minutes. After that the pc rebooted as normal with the rog logo showing and the loading wheel, then it went to the undoing your changes for a second withthe computer rebooting and doing that all over again. Can anyone here help me fix windows.

I am unable to access the boot recovery menu so is there any way to get windows working again or accessing the boot recovery menu without having to reinstall windows.

Also if i do have to reinstall windows using a boot recovery drive does that delete all the files off of my d drive? Thanks.

    :)

  2. windows update stuck at installation screen and cannot get to desktop

    Hi Sue,

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

    • Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
    • For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
    • When was the computer last updated?
    • Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
    provided below:

    • Shut down the Computer.
    • Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
    • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
    • Connect the power source and start the computer.
    • After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

    Thank you.
