Windows 10: My Windows 10 Laptop does not go to Sleep when it's plugged in !!

TL;DR: My old Windows 10 laptop goes to sleep only when not plugged in, online solutions didn't work and my setup needs this (gonna stick it behind my TV and use wireless MnK)

So I thought I would bring my Toshiba Sattellite Laptop back to life. I bought it back in 2010 and haven't used it in about 3 years but it's a sturdy one that stuck with me through college and a bit afterwards.

I remember before I put it on the shelf that this problem existed but I paid it no heed. Now it seems annoying to me since I am going to stick it behind my TV and use an external mouse and keyboard so I don't wanna keep shutting it down or hybernating it and each time I wanna turn it back on I have to move the TV to reach it. One thing worth mentioning, I did a full-on windows update but the issue was there even before then.

Anyways I isolated the problem to the following:
- Sleep doesn't work on Windows 10 (screen turns off but if I still hear it turned on and if I move the mouse or press any button it goes back on, WITHOUT EVEN ASKING FOR PASSWORD!!)

- Tried a couple of Googled solution (Power Settings, disable apps, etc.) but no avail

- Switched to Ubuntu (I have a dual boot setup), and sleep works. Although I remember now that the exact same issue happened on Ubuntu but I can't reproduce it now

- Battery is almost dead and can't sustain the laptop for more than a few minutes, I remembered a workaround. I unplugged the charger, clicked the sleep button and Voila, it sleeps !!!

- Plugged it back in, problem came back after I woke it up

- Ran the "powercfg - lastwake", "powercfg - request" commands but shows "None"

- Ran "msconfig" and switched it to Diagnostic Startup, restarted, now it can sleep. but since most services are disabled I got no Audio, no Internet, nothing.

- Switched back to Selective startup and disabled some services but still can't sleep

- This may impress you since I impressed myself as long as I still had hope. I Opened the "Services App" and exported a list of services and their status in both settings, exported lists with charger plugged in and not plugged in, diffed the lists to shortlist the ones that changed, stopped them manually one by one and attempted sleeping. Alas, didn't work.

Now I'm back to square one with no Ideas and nothing off Google is new at this point and I have been at this for 12 hours straight. Have you encountered such issue before? Any ideas are appreciated

Hibernating laptop changes to sleep behaviour after Windows 10 May 2019 update

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the two steps (turning of Hybrid sleep and Fast startup) you suggested but to no avail. Okay, for your two questions:

1. My laptop is a HP Pavilion 14-bf101tx, and currently running Windows 10 1903 (upgrading from 1809).
2. Nope. No error messages. I suppose the boot process was successful, however, my battery was reduced. That's why I suggest the post title as "Hibernating changes to sleep behaviour" because the battery level reduction looks like sleep behaviour.

Please inform me of any diagnostics information you might need. Thank you for your kind assistance.

 

Laptop going to sleep when plugging in or out the charger Windows 10

Whenever I am plugging in or plugging out the charger while laptop is running it goes to sleep and then I have to press start button put the password again. Its getting frustrating now, please suggest if its just a bug or a pc problem.

 

Lenovo Laptop - Windows 10 - Power and Sleep Settings Not Working

Despite selecting 'Never' for 'When plugged in, turn off after' for both 'Screen' and 'Sleep' within the 'Power and Sleep Settings' window--please see attached screen dump--and my laptop being plugged in, it still goes to sleep / shuts down after a short time of inactivity. Can any suggest why it is doing this and how to fix it?
