    My Windows 10 PC screen went black and I don't want to turn it off because I have unsaved work


    I am working on a school assignment and left my PC for a bit but then it turned black and I tried pressing all the keyboard buttons and even moving/clicking the mouse but it's still not turned on. It's been 1 hour and it's still black. And I have my assignment in there and I didn't even save it and it's due tomorrow so I don't want to turn off my PC. How do I wake up my computer?

    Black screen after 'Starting Windows' sequence

    Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

    Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

    They, also, have some other options there, too.
    Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.

    The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
