Windows 10: My windows 10 updated and now I can't get to my Desktop

So my Windows 10 system updated overnight, something I DID NOT allow it to do. First I'd like to shut that off, the auto updates. Secondly though and more importantly, this glitch. Yes i restarted my computer. I cannot access my desktop. For example, when I close google chrome, it goes to the menu where it shows "create" "play" "explore" and all it's fancy apps and new stuff or whatever. At the bottom left it has the windows icon that I can right click and then click on desktop and it goes there. However, on the desktop, it is all blank. And sometimes, it temporarily flashes the desktop I want, but then it immediately goes to the blank desktop. As soon as I click anywhere, it goes to the menu that I described at the beginning of this question. So how do I get my desktop back?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Not sure about the games you listed but no probs with Dirt Rally and benching heavensward-bench here for me. I'm going to test 3DMark too in a few minutes.
