I downloaded the Intel Driver Updater thing, and updated my graphics driver. After it updated, Windows thought my monitor was 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz instead of its true specs, 2560 x 1080 @ 75Hz. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the monitor, restarting my laptop, and going into every settings app I could Windows settings, Device Manager, etc.. I am not sure what else to do.

Change monitor aspect ratio

The aspect ratio of your monitor is fixed and can't be changed, because it depends on the arrangement of the pixels on the screen.

When you display an image on your monitor whose aspect ratio is different from the aspect ratio of your monitor, what you'll see depends on how different the aspect ratios are. Usually, you see black bars on the top and the bottom of the screen, or on the
left and the right, a familiar appearance known as 'letterboxing.'

I understand your concern, make sure you are logged in as admin. After that please follow the steps below and check the aspect ratio.

  Right click on Desktop.

  Click on Personalize.
  
• 
  Advanced display settings,
  
• 
  Display Adapter properties
  
• 
  Monitor>scaling>Change Aspect Ratio.

Aspect ratio of monitor

I had the same issue that VHoover is describing after the update on my HP DV7-2273cl. Looked at the obvious display settings, but it only lists resolutions, not aspect ratios (4:3, 16:9, etc). My laptop has an extra wide screen, so everything on it was
stretched out as well. Rolling back the driver did help though!
