Windows 10: My windows 11 laptop has started bypassing the password/fingerprint security when starting...

My Lenovo Laptop on Windows 11 is set to require password/fingerprint reader at startup and a wake up. But as of today, for some reason, it starts and wakes up without asking for my password or fingerprint.My Settings > Accounts > If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again? feature, is properly set to "Every Time" but, oddly, "Every Time" is shaded, and I can't access it.The only time the password/fingerprint protection works is if I manually put the Laptop to sleep with Ctr + Alt + Del > Lock screen. That's the only time it requires the password to wake

Logon intermittently bypasses Windows Hello Fingerprint

Hello Mosken,

When I didn't hear back from you I went ahead and re-set my Windows Hello Fingerprint. Three logons (with shutdowns in between) worked perfectly yesterday. But the first logon for today it was back to its old intermittent self to bypass Windows Hello and go straight to the desktop, with no security.

So, just like all the other 'fixes' I've tried over the past 2+ weeks, your four steps can be added to the list of all the things that don't work for this Windows Hello intermittent bypass and proceed straight to Windows Desktop issue.

Any other suggestions?

Password on start up

I just got a new laptop with Windows 10 Pro. For some reason, I can not make it require a password on startup or when waking up. I am only given 4 options:

• Windows Hello Face (currently unavailable)
  
• Windows Hello Fingerprint
  
• Windows Hello PIN
  
• Security Key
  

Why not a physical password?

 

PIN + Fingerprint but no password option?


Preinstalled OS on new laptop w/fingerprint reader. Starting the machine I was prompted for a PIN and then my fingerprint but not a (the) password that I use on my Win7 machine and is required for various installed programs and the home network. I must be blind but Settings/Accounts/Sign-in Options is all for my MS account not the machine.

Nothing under Settings/Privacy or /Updates and Security.

Okay, I'll bite, where is 'give this OS a password' hidden?
