Windows 10: My Windows 11 pro DVD product key

Hi,I have a Windows 11 pro DVD, and I lost the printed product key. Is there any way I can retrieve it again? I have the box and the DVD here with me.

Hello, I'm getting the impression that I am getting a serious case of Techno-Snobbery from Microsoft.

I am trying to, with some difficulty you understand, to install the 'Pro' version of Microsoft's Wondows 11 Operating System.

I own a HP 17-BY0026DS Laptop PC, and the computer's Hard Drive, catastrophically CRASHED. So I decided to install a new 2TB hard drive in the computer.

The 2TB drive that I installed in the computer, was a new, formatted, totally 'clean' hard drive. It contained absolutely no previous Operating System(s), or data whatsoever.

I mounted the 2TB hard drive, in the computer, placed my OEM Windows 11 (Pro) DVD, in the HP 17-BY0026DS computer's dvd drive bay, and proceeded. to install what I believed to be the 'smooth' installation of Windows 11 (Pro).

The 'installation' went smoothly enough, or so I've thought. But it turns out that My HP 17-BY0026DS computer, is NOT running Windows 11 (Pro). It seems that I've been running Windows 11 (HOME).

I am encountering very, VERY, STIFF resistance, in my efforts to UPGRADE the Window 11 (HOME) O/S, that's currently in my computer to the WINDOWS 11 (Pro) O/S that I purchased. I have tried to get the Product Key activation installation setup sequence to accept the supplied Product Key that is on the DVD 'sleeve' that the Software came in. But the product Key is constantly REJECTED.

I paid $165.36, for this Microsoft product at the Micro Center Store, located at 4625 Elston, in Chicago. This Microsoft O/S, is the second one That I've purchased from the Micro Center Computer Store. My other Microsoft O/S Purchase, was Windows 7 (Ultimate), which I bought to upgrade my HP dv7-6b57nr Entertainment Notebook PC's up from Windows 7(Home). So I know the Software is absolutely 'Genuine' Windows.

Can anyone, at Microsoft tell me, why the Product Key that came with the Windows 11 (Pro) DVD that I bought, is not being accepted as valid on this computer?

As far as I understand your issue, Windows 11 Home edition is currently running on your computer and you can not activate it with your Windows 11 Pro DVD license key. Is that correct?

If yes, the reason behind it, is that the product key you have is only used to activate Windows 11 Pro edition not Home edition even it is not used for upgrading it from Home to Pro. The only option is to perform a clean install and reinstall Windows 11 Pro.

To confirm that, please click on Start > Type system information and hit enter > Take a screenshot and post it back.

Windows 11 home to Windows 11 pro upgrade by product key - not active

HI,

I bought a product key for windows 11 pro, I did install it however i get error code an not able to activate -> 0x80072EE7.

Is there a way to resolve the issue? Tried to do the phone activation but it doesnt help. Windows suggest installing windows 11 home again (which I dont want since I bought windows 11 pro).
