    My Windows 11 shows using more than 300GB of storage


    From my Windows Explorer, it seems to show Windows 11 is using more than 300GB of storage. May I know if this is possible as I've used only 133GB and now left with very little storage space left. Not forgetting to leave 30% storage free so it will not slow down my SSD storage. Please help and thank you in advance.475GB - SSD Available Storage317GB - Used by Win11133GB - My Data/Files158GB - Left slightly above 30% free storage

    Storage showing as double the actual SSD size

    Running Windows 10 Home 20H2 (Build 19042.964) on an AMD based Windows Surface Laptop 4 with 512GB SSD.

    Even though it has a 512GB SDD as confirmed by both disk management and file explorer, settings -> system -> Storage reports the size as 951GB! I have searched but struggling to discover how to get it to report the real size.

    Per the image below it shows
    • 553GB used - bigger than the size of the SDD
      519GB in system & reserved

    Have tried various options including disk cleanup, SFC and DSIM to get it to report the correct size but to no avail. Any suggestions on how to correct this much appreciated?

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

    As you are unable to delete the temporary files and free up the storage space on Windows 10 Operating System, try the below and check if it helps.

    Step 1: I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft article about:
    Free up drive space in Windows 10

    Step 2: I suggest you to check the storage capacity of each of the drives in
    Windows Explorer.

    • Press Windows key, type This PC, select it.
    • Right click on each of the drives and click on Properties.
    • Also, you can perform Disk Cleanup from the
      Step 2       as well.
    • Select the files to be delete on each of the drives.

    could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
