Windows 10: My windows has defaulted to a symbol font and I cant restore it.

I moved my PC from one house to another, upon starting my PC up and typing my password I noticed the stars were shown as empty "symbol missing" boxes.

The entire UI, barring the fonts used in programs, has switched to some wingding-esque font. None of the standard font appear in the select a font list, restoring to default fonts doesn't work. Installing the Segoe UI fonts worked until I restarted my PC, now installing them does nothing.

I've navigated through the menus using my laptop as a map but to no avail, nothing seems to work.

Moreover, I think it might be due to a corrupted partition on my C:// SSD, I installed some file recovery tool per online instructions and it seemed to suggest that one of the partitions on my C:// drive was corrupted somehow. After making a windows 10 recovery USB I discovered that the repair my PC option wasn't available/doesn't work. Restoring to a recovery image doesn't work because system protection is turned off, whilst also being unavailable to enable.

I'm running out of ideas to try except for a full reinstall but I'd rather not have to go through the of reinstalling all the programmes on here if not utterly necessary.

• Which Windows 10 build are you using?
• When you say ''Tried the one in the font menu but it didn't work!
  ‘’did you tried the option Restore default fonts settings? If not you can try the below steps.

Let’s try to restore the default fonts settings and check if this helps.

  Type fonts on the Windows search bar and select
  Fonts.

  Click on Font settings on the left pane and click on
