Windows 10: My Windows icon is gone and the notification center is replaced with a single white box,...

Im not sure what caused this. The windows icon and entire notification center on the taskbar are gone, and nothing happens when I click there. I have tried multiple solutions, such as restarting the Windows Explorer in the task manager, which acted as a temporary solution as it would fix it but it would return to being broken after shutting down. I have also used the 'sfc /scannow' and 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' whilst following a tutorial which didn't help with anything either. https://gyazo.com/63cb5e733316c7582a9c9f20b2ab4c8e is a link to a screenshot of my taskbar.

White boxes for icons in Notification Area

Running Win 10, build 16299. I used a program, "Dir Icon" to change the icons in the Notification Area" of This PC.
I opened My PC on startup last week and all the drive icons had turned into white square boxes.

I tried everything I could find to repair the icons, even the Reset Notification Area Icons Cache. I did a Repair Install of Win 10 to try correct this and other problems but it did not solve the problem.

Would anyone have a solution?

Stop action center notifications in Windows 10

To stop action center notifications, I suggest you to follow the steps given below:

• 
  Type settings in search bar and hit
  enter.
  
• 
  Go to system.
  
• 
  Select notifications and actions.
  
• 
  Click on turn system icons on or off.
  
• 
  Turn off action center.

USB Notification icon gone from the Taskbar

Some suggestions:
Right click start & choose run enter "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll" without the quotes.Choose a drive to eject, once ejected icon should return.
• Press keyboard "win + R"• Type "regedit"• Search the value "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings\Microsoft.Explor er.Notification.{...}"• If you REG_DWORD 0x00000001(0) set "0" you can double click on value. Set the value data to "1"• Click "OK"

Step 1. Go to > Settings > PrivacyStep 2. App Permissions > Background Apps.Toggle ‘Let apps run in the background’ switch to off. Restart computer. (action center not showing previously or new notifications)Step 3. Go back to the settings page, previously mentioned in step 1 and 2.Toggle the ‘Let apps run in the background’ switch to on, as described in Step 2.Restart once again.
