    My Windows Photo app is failing, and I need help to uninstall/reinstall it. Trying to remove via Powershell using the Remove-AppxPackage gives the following error: Remove-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CFA, Removal failed. Please contact your software vendor. Exception from HRESULT: 0x80073CFA NOTE: For additional information, look for [ActivityId] 21ec4e9f-3ecc-0002-14b3-ed21cc3edb01 in the Event Log or use the command line Get-AppPackageLog -ActivityID 21ec4e9f-3ecc-0002-14b3-ed21cc3edb01 At line:1 char:28 + Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos Remove-AppxPack

    How to disable/uninstall the Photo app in Windows 10?

    Hi,

    I suggest you to follow the steps below to uninstall the Photo app and check if it helps.

    We cannot disable Photos app on windows 10. However, we can uninstall the app and when you require the app you can download it through Windows Store.

    I suggest you to follow the steps below to uninstall the Photo app.


    • Type Power Shell in the Search bar,
      right-click on Windows PowerShell and click on
      Run as administrator
      .

    • Type the following commands, press Enter
      key after each command, in the given order.
    1. Get-AppxPackage

    (This will view all the apps installed in your account.)

    2. Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers

    (This will view all Windows apps installed in the computer.)

    3. Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos | Remove-AppxPackage

    (This will remove/uninstall the Photo app.)

    • Restart the system and check.

    The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

    I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

    • Go to settings and system.
    • Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.

    Method 2:

    I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
    and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

    • Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
    • Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    • Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.

    •   get-appxpackage  *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

    • Right click on Windows Powershell and select

    • Copy and paste the following command.
    get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

    • Press Enter key.

    After uninstalling the Photo app I suggest you to download and install the app again and check.
