Windows 10: My windows starts and says sign in but when I click sign in it again goes back to lock...

My windows starts and says sign in but when I click sign in it again goes back to lock screen and again sign in I have tried everything in reboot menu but can't fix this problem please help

I want Windows 10 Sign-in Screen to show which users are signed in

Thank you for trying to help, but as stated in my post, "If you are already signed into an account, then you can look and see which users (if any) are signed in and there is no guesswork needed." This can be done as you described or (I think) through the Users tab in Task Manager.

The problem is knowing which users are signed in when you are at the Sign-in Screen. Windows 8.x used to say below a user's picture and name "Signed in". Windows 10 does not. If a signed in user Locks their account or if the PC is put/goes to Sleep or Hibernation and then you come along and want to restart or shutdown from the Sign-in Screen. In that case, Windows 10 tells you other users are signed in, but you have no way of knowing which users are signed in without first signing into one of the accounts.

It all started when I went to an xbox app and I downloaded a demo on it and played it. Now have to sign in all the time but the computer when it starts up if it does not go to the lock screen first instead of the sign in screen, I have to restart the
computer. The sign in does not bother me it is the restart, sometimes it 2-3 times before it goes to the lock screen instead of the sign in. I let the computer set on sign in screen and it goes to the lock screen but it still will not let sign in. I have to
restart tell it goes to the lock screen at start up. The computer is HP duel core 360gig hard drive, 3gig ram. Thanks for any suggestions. Tim

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.
