    My Wired keyboard randomly turns itself off, and than types the same character many times...


    First the Troubleshooting:1. Sticky Keys and All them key shortcuts are off2. The "On touch keyboards, activate when I lift my finger" is off3. Wired keyboard is plugged directly into my laptop4. Happens with all USB outlets5.     Keyboard types wrong characters

    Hello Hannah,

    If you're having issues with your laptop's keyboard, we highly suggest performing the troubleshooting steps in this article:

    Mouse, touchpad, and keyboard problems in Windows    . If the issue persists, you may also try the suggestions posted by Deepak Kodi in this
    thread. Quite a few people found his suggestions helpful.

    Let us know if that worked out for you.

    Accented Characters input using Touch keyboard, Microsoft Surface Book.

    We understand your concern and appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to research on the issue. We have looked into this for you, the character options when you press and hold a letter is available on the Touch Keyboard, you can enable
    the Touch Keyboard by turning the Tablet mode ‘ON’ on your Surface Book. To enable the tablet mode on your Surface, you can follow the steps below.



    1. Enable Tablet mode by referring
      Turn tablet mode on or off      .
    2. Then click on keyboard icon at the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

    3. Then try using foreign character and symbols.

    You can refer the picture below for the character options that are available for letter ‘e’.

    However, the On-screen keyboard will provide the options that are similar to a physical keyboard. For more information on the character options that are available, I would suggest you to refer to
