Windows 10: My xbox wireless controller is connected but none of the buttons work on xbox cloud gaming

I've tried resyncing the controller I've tried the power cycle thing but nothing is working its still connected but none of the buttons or sticks work, it's done this before and doing the power cycle thing worked but not this time. I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue because I've only had it for 1month I've never dropped it or bashed it. It worked fine yesterday and connecting it with a cable is useless. I did the 10 second reset thing, and I disconnected and reconected the controller. The only button that works is the xbox logo. I play xbox cloud on my Windows 10 Surface Pro

This thread from Reddit may help you. It appears that the Xbox One controllers can utilize two drivers; Xbox One Controller, and Microsoft Xbox One Controller.

EDIT: Per the asker's request;

I'm not sure if this solved it or if it was just a weird side effect of changing the drivers version forward and backward again. When connected via USB cable it said "Xbox controller", changed that to "Xbox gaming device", unplugged the USB cable, and the wireless stuff started to work for whatever reason... No idea why!

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.

Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc

Initially, we need to pair the device to show up in the list while connected through Bluetooth. Check with the below mentioned steps and see if it works.
