Windows 10: MyFiles is linked to your Microsoft Account.

Hello Everybody,

I was reading over the material again about not being able to re-connect my Windows 10 PC & my Mobile Phone ever since we did a Windows 10 System Recovery via a USB Media Creation Tool. I came across that page that tells you what sies/apps/whatever is connected or linked to your Microsoft Account. One of about 5 things is linked to my account. All of them I remember the reason or at least the name of the program or app on that page that is linked to my account. All except one. There is one line on that webpage that reads:

"MyFiles is linked to your Microsoft Account". "MyFiles" - what the heck is that? Anything & there's a lot linked to my Google account I remember exactly why it is when it was, and certainly recognize the name of the linked site, program, or app & had to give it my Direct Permission to be linked to the Google account. Now with this "MyFiles" I NEVER heard of it before, have NO IDEA what it does or HOW it was linked to my Microsoft Account. I read up on it for about an hour time including searches & I can't find One Good Reason why it should be linked to my Microsoft Account!

It said something about helping you out with a Business OneDrive account. I don't have a business OneDrive account. Does anybody know 1 What MyFiles is for? 2 Is it safe? 3 How it became linked to my Microsoft Account if I didn't give it permission?

Cannot link/add my Microsoft Account to Local Account

Hello Ken,

Im using Win10 Build 1607 with all latest update.

I also run all related troubleshooters:

• Windows Update
• Store Apps (says i have to login in my microsoft account but thats the problem, i can't)
• Microsoft Accounts

No Problem found. Also the suggestions from Microsoft didnt helped.

 

Remove Microsoft linked account in Windows 10

This question refers to steps 3 and 4 in the thread How to rename the User folder in Windows 10?

The troublesome steps are:

3) Remove original Microsoft linked account

4) Link local account to Microsoft account if you wish

I was stuck on those 2 steps. I couldn't find a way in Windows 10 to remove the Microsoft account.

Any ideas?
