    Mysterious Folder Appearance (Malicious?) adxregistor.log

    Hello everybody,

I am running Windows 10 1903, and just noticed a mystery folder has appeared in my documents that has apparently created itself, called "Add in Express." Inside the folder is a text file titled "adxregistrator" (.log) and has administration privileges on my system. I have scanned this file with both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, neither of which threw any red flags, however, I don't think this file is safe to keep around. It's just suspicious. I want to verify this isn't something critical to the system, or if this is malware that has been missed.

    Technical details.

Object name: C:\Users\Alex\Documents\Add-in Express\adxregistrator.log To clarify, I don't have any program called "Add-in Express" installed.

See the screenshot below for the security details, this is what is bothering me.

Please let me know if I should delete this file. Thanks!

    :)

    folder appeared

The hidden files get assigned a letter sometimes, if you try to mount any ISO via Explorer r-click. My 'mystery' drive letter is almost always 'Z'. You can simply remove the letter and the essential file will once again be hidden by:

Open command prompt (admin), type at each step, observing spaces-
    diskpart (hit Enter)
    list volume (hit Enter)
select volume # (corresponding to one you want to disassociate, in this case, 4 & hit Enter)
    remove letter=F (Enter)
list volume (to double-check that this worked)

    • Make a new folder.
    • Change the icon to a blank icon. No icon should appear
    • Rename the folder to a blank by pressing "alt + 255." (NOTE: Press 255 on the numpad) No text should appear.
    • Your done! It is uber hidden. *Big Grin Mysterious Folder Appearance (Malicious?) adxregistor.log :D
