  1. Mysterious New Profile

A Dell update required a restart, so I did that. When I clicked on the lock-screen icon, I found my profile, as expected, but also "Administrator" had been added. I logged on to my profile, and went into PC Settings/Accounts, where I found my profile, shown as local and administrator, as it should be. I find no entry there for a profile known as "Administrator."

I found no other profiles listed, so I went to Switch user and chose the new, mysterious profile, Administrator. I clicked on it, and to my surprise and dread, the new account logged me on without requiring a password, and proceeded to set up Windows 10. As soon as I could, I logged off of Administrator and returned to my own profile.

As I was writing this, I realized that I had not logged off of my profile before choosing Administrator, so I logged off, tried again, and Administrator is still there. So far, the only location I can find for it is C:\Users\Administrator. Unlocker cannot delete all of the files upon restart, and "Take Ownership" has not helped. The files that I cannot delete all say that admin permission is needed to delete; I am the admin, but that does not seem to matter.

Where could this mysterious profile have come from, and how do I get rid of it? So long as it is there, my computer is unprotected: I cannot give it a password, as it does not (as stated above) appear in Settings.

    :)

  2. Can't move individual tiles in Start Menu

I have this problem too, reinstalled windows, after few hours problem appeared again. If I make new user profile it works, but only for some time too. So something somewhere mysteriously breaks something in user profile.

    Mysterious New Profile

All Windows systems have a built-in account named Administrator. This is required by the system and cannot be deleted or managed like an ordinary account. By default the Administrator account is disabled in Windows 10 and won't appear in the list of accounts you can log in to. Sounds like the Dell update has somehow enabled it. You can disable it again using this Tutorial.

  5. That was entirely too easy, but I followed the instructions in the tutorial anyway, which solved the problem. I then took a look at "Switch user," which gave me only one entry, namely my profile. Thanks for your assistance, which was a nice way to start the day, at 0520 local.

I did suspect the Dell update, and I am going to take a look at the Dell forums sometime today, to see if the update has been causing the strange problem.
