I've been noticing lately that my desktop cannot be put back to sleep right away after it wakes from sleep. So I looked at "powercfg /requests" output, and it shows this mysterious messageMysterious Perfboost driver delays sleep on system? :pERFBOOST:[DRIVER] Legacy Kernel CallerPower ManagerIf you keep renewing the "powercfg /requests" for a couple of minutes, this message will keep appearing, but after a minute or two, it eventually goes away all by itself, and you can put the system back to sleep at that time. So it's not really a problem, more of an annoyance. What could be causing this message for a couple of minutes, and then disappear

    :)

Windows 10 won't sleep: "Legacy Kernel Caller" in PERFBOOST section of "powercfg -requests" at fault?

Today, my Windows 10 just won't go to sleep.

    Running "powercfg -requests" shows:

    DISPLAY:

    None.

    SYSTEM:

    None.

    AWAYMODE:

    None.

    EXECUTION:

    None.

    PERFBOOST:

    [DRIVER] Legacy Kernel Caller

    Power Manager

    ACTIVELOCKSCREEN:

    None.

I can (and did, to no avail) add "Legacy Kernel Caller" to "powercfg /requestsoverride Driver "Legacy Kernel Caller" system", but it's not in a SYSTEM section, it's in PERFBOOST, and "powercfg /requestsoverride" has no option to
ban a request from there. I found that "powercfg /requestsoverride" actually just manages the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerRequestOverride" registry branch, and tried adding some more extensive bitmasks (0xff, why not?),
but I only managed to override DISPLAY, SYSTEM, AWAYMODE and EXECUTION - nothing on PERFBOOST.

Of course no USB devices are allowed to wake the system up anymore ("powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" is empty), the power plan option allowing timers to wake the system is off.

How do I get it to sleep again?

  3. wake from sleep issue in windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your reply. Apologize for the delay in response.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

    • Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type the command line below:
    Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

    3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

    Hope the information is helpful.

Mysterious Perfboost driver delays sleep on system?

System 'soft crash' + applications not working properly after sleep

Sean, Personally, I'd go to the display card maker's support site to download & re-install the latest display driver before bothering with any further diagnostic steps. - Display driver corruption is a common cause of sleep/hibernation-related problems [and my suggestion used to be in the initial steps recommended by MS in Windows 7 built-in Help]. - And I mean re-install not just check for updates. - I suspect that the reason this fix can work is that re-installing the driver rewrites cross-references to driver components & related system components. Best of luck, Denis
