Mysterious Update

My computer did a mysterious update last night. Now, today I can't sign into my computer. It says the password won't work.

Hello. A few hours ago, when I shut off my pc, I had the screen "Preparing to configure Windows. Do not turn off your computer." And it took about 20 mins.

I thought it was an update, but Update Chronology says last update was on 15 March, so 2 days ago.

What happened?

Thanks for that Bree. However it is most disconcerting for Microsoft to issue updates in such a confusing manner; the use of only letters & numerals indicates nothing.

Just Google the offending ID as mentioned in that other thread and you should be able to identify the offending app. I think this issue is just due to poor QA from MS.
