  1. Nag security entry

everytime I open file manager to click on a file, it asks me for my login password. This is getting extremely annoying as it asks for this log in for every little triffle thing. Clearly nothing has changed for this to suddenly become so demanding. I haven't installed any new apps or programs for it to begin implementing a new policy. My account is administrator type. But I noticed that it also did it on a local account. Whatever prompts this request doesn't seem to be some critical security issue, but practically any kind of action I might take. Like to add a folder or file somewhere. To eve

  2. Duplicate Security Code Entry

Following a Windows update in the last two weeks, I now have to enter my security code twice to access my computer. How can I adjust this setting to return to the single entry of my security code?

    Steps Taken

These are the steps I'm taking to help you understand what I'm referring to...

    • Press the Power Button
    • Picture shows up with icon searching for facial recognition - select alternate options
    • Enter security code
    • Returns to original screen with picture and icon searching for facial recognition - I again select alternate sign in options link
    • Enter security code again
    • The start up process begins and I have access to everything

Up until that update from two weeks ago, I only had to enter my security code once to gain access.

    Thanks.

    Chris

That made me so facepalm. Some people have absolutely no clue. I hope they don't take you for granted with all this you're doing for them.

SonicWall is a good security product, so Mindweaver's suggestion sounds like a good one and should make for a rather bigger baby step. Let's hope they take it.

windows defender & security center services keep turning off

Are you running any other AV or did you have one running in the past? If you didn't use an uninstaller for the AV, then the remnants of it could be causing the problem. Normally any time you install an AV it disables Defender by default.

If you are getting any error codes please list those, that will be helpful in helping you.

As torre suggested, might be a good idea to do a reset or even a reinstall.
