NAS stopped appearing as Computer in File Explorer

I recently added a Synology DS220+ to my network. From my main PC I could see the NAS as a "Computer" and so could expand to see folders as with any other PC on the network. I was using file explorer to transfer some files to the NAS when the process hung. Now I cannot see the NAS as a computer but only as an "Other Device" so can open its web page but cannot view folders. I can access one folder that I had already mapped as a drive but no others. Another NAS on the network WD Mycloud does appear both as Storage and as a Computer so I can expand to see folders. I can see the DS220 as a

NAS not appearing under Network in File Explorer - Automating the Fix

I have been having issues with my WD MyCloud NAS not showing up under Network on the left navigation pane of File Explorer. I am able to access the NAS by entering the host name (\\WDMYCLOUD) in the address bar in File Explorer. I was able to find a solution that fixes this and makes my NAS appear in Network as expected. The solution involved running Command Prompt as Admin, executing some commands, then restarting the computer.

What I would like to do is automate this process by creating a batch file that will:

    1. Open Command Prompt as Admin
    2. Automatically enter specific commands
    3. Close Command Prompt
    4. Restart the computer

The problem is I don't know anything about how to code batch files in order to accomplish this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Network attached storage (NAS)

OKAY... I get the laptop thru all the updates by using the troubleshooter. Now I still cannot see my NAS in file explorer BUT there is one file listed in quick access that is on the NAS. If I open file location I can see everything on the NAS (WOOHOO)
but if I close file explorer and reopen it the NAS does not appear(?).

I am sure there is a small tweak that needs to be made but at least if I don't loose the quick access I will be able to access my files.

    One step forward!!!!

    Thanks,

    Len
