Windows 10: Navigating SD Card ExFat Volume ID Table

Is anyone savvy at FAT32 and/or ExFAT? Not sure where to post this, so sorry if not the right place. Couldn't find a forum where this was a good fit.I have a embedded project that uses my own created library of SD card functions for FAT32 SD cards. The reason is that 3rd party libraries were too big to fit into our code space and I only needed a few functions, so I wrote them myself. It's been working great for many years. Now that ExFAT cards are starting to be the more common cards 64GB+, I needed to make code adjustments to handle ExFAT as the VID sector/table has changed somewhat fo

SD Card issues


OK - I just got this Asus Transformer Book with Windows 10 on it. I have a SD card that is formatted to ExFAT, and I keep getting the "read only" error. I know to go to the security settings, the problem is I don't have that tab on the card. I have it on the main drive, just not for the SD. I can't got to NTFS, because this SD is going into an Android tablet... Suggestions? And sorry in advance if this has been answered - my Google Fu is weak today...

 

SD card/SD card reader no longer working

Hi. New to this so not sure of category.
I have a Lenovo G70. Windows 10, 64bit
My SD card reader has stopped working.
In Device Manager, the SD card is not listed.
I can't format the card as it is not listed.
I cannot locate the card at all as it is not listed anywhere.
I've tried chkdsk and get 'Cannot open volume for direct access'
I don't even have the icon displaying when micro SD card is inserted.
It did work previously but I had errors. Scanning and fixing did not help.
I place the SD card in my Android phone and it works fine.
Please help!

SD CARD ERROR

Hi,

Since you already performed a hard reset and the issue was only resolved for a short period of time. We suggest that you format your SD card using the steps below:

• Connect your memory card to a PC with a USB reader that has a microSD card slot. If your card reader or PC has a regular SD card slot, you can use a microSD card adapter.
  
• Use the File Explorer and browse to the removable storage on your computer, right-click the memory card and select Format.
• For 4-32 GB cards, select the file system FAT32 and allocation unit size 32 kilobytes and press Start. For 64-200 GB cards, select the file system exFAT and allocation unit size 128kB.
• Press OK to confirm the data loss warning message. When the formatting process is complete, press OK.
• Restore only the data that is compatible with your phone (JPEG or MP4 in the photos folder or MP3 in the music folder).
• Right-click the memory card, select Eject, and wait until it is safe to remove the card.
• Insert the memory card into the memory card slot in the phone until it locks into place.

After formatting a SD card, try to check if the issue persists.

If formatting your SD card didn't resolved the issue, we suggest that you use another SD card to check if the issue still persists.
