Windows 10: Need alternative wireless adapter options for my old laptop

I'm trying to find out if there is an alternative wireless adapter that can successfully replace my Qualcomm Atheros wireless adapter in my old Acer laptop. They stopped making updates for this driver in 2016. I've been to the Qualcomm website and they have removed the old updates that used to exist for this driver. I'm not really a big computer knowledge person. Is it possible to find a different wireless adapter and replace my old outdated one with it?Ive been fighting the wifi signal on my laptop for a long time now. Any help or info would be much appreciated

Weirdness with laptop wireless adapter

As I mentioned in my original post, those options aren't listed. I got there through Device Manager, but the same list of advanced options are listed. It's possible that the option is called something else for the AC 9560 but I don't see any option that seems equivalent. The options are there for my Ethernet adapter (and I've turned them off just in case), but that doesn't do any good for the WiFi adapter. I did find an Intel utility called ProSet that supposedly provides control functions for the WiFi adapter, but as near as I can tell it is just for importing wireless profiles (and Windows does a fine job of that all by itself). Update: Here's a screen shot of the options. I had to do it in two chunks.

 

Wireless Adapter not working

Method 1:

Step 1: Update network adapter driver from the device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X keys on the keyboard and click on
  Device Manager from the options.
• Expand the Network adapters from the options.
• Right click on the wireless network card and select Update option.
• Restart the computer and check if the changes are effective.

Step 2: If the issue persist, I suggest you to uninstall the network adapter driver from the device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X keys on the keyboard and click on
  Device Manager from the options.
• Expand the Network adapters from the options.
• Right click on the wireless network card and select Uninstall.
• Restart the computer for automatic installation of network adapters and check if the changes are effective.

To further help you with your concern, kindly check what options you have on the following sections and provide a screenshot if necessary.

Option 1: Wi-Fi

Check your Network & Internet settings page to see if the
Wi-Fi option is available in the left panel. To do this, refer to these steps:

• Press the Windows key to open the Start Menu, then select
  Settings.
• Select Network & Internet.

Option 2: Network Connections

To determine what network adapters you currently have on the system, all adapters will be listed on this page. To check the list, refer to these steps:

• Press the Windows key + X key to open the Advanced Start Menu.
  
• Select Network Connections.

Also, kindly confirm with your system manual if you have function toggle keys available to turn off or turn on the wireless device for your laptop.
