  1. Need download latest ISO as used from Mediatool but states 4GB updates

I`ve downloaded iso from windows 10 mediatool but after install there is an icon on desktop for updates. When clicked, its saying I need 4GB of updates. Is there a way to get current iso or download a later version for install? I`ve got a fair few systems to do and its a lot of time and internet usage for me.

    I`ve tried 32/64/both downloads
    Thanks in advance

    :)

  2. Unmountable Boot Volume with very limit resources to recovery the machine

"If you don't have one, you can Create an installation Media"

This is where I have been struggling to fix the laptop because I cannot install the MediaTools in order to create the ISO or bootable USB to repair the computer as for some reason the site has been always redirected to the MediaTools downloading
page with no option available to download ISO 64 bit directly from the site. I need a finished file download to be uploaded to Box / DropBox or else then I could just download them, drag and drop in my UBS drives.

And also after obtaining ISO file, I do not have any program to mount the ISO file to the USB drive, could I just drag and drop the ISO file? Please advice further.

windows 10 download problems with crazy disc space use

I wouldn't like to offer guidance to create more space on your HP Stream. But when you download the Media Creation tool you have to then run the tool from wherever it was saved to. It will download a 4GB file (ISO) and after this is complete either prompt
to create flash media or explain that you need to create the media from the ISO file. (not sure what the latest version does)

So you need at least 4GB of free space on your HP Stream. (but in reality probably double that)

I think that's the Upgrade Assistant, I believe you get it if you take the first method in the link you gave: 'Using the tool to upgrade this PC to Windows 10'. The second method is the one most of us use: 'Using the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file)...'.

But he said he downloaded the Iso to do the Install.

sl3, did you create an install dvd and do a clean install ?

What version of 10 do you have installed ?

I used media download tool. For another PC, Win 10, English UK and version Both. I downloaded the ISO then used rufus to create USB boot.

I installed 64 bit Pro version

You should have just used the USB method to create a bootable USB drive. MS gives that to us....so there's no need to use Rufus.

Note: I do use Rufus and quite like it for Linux Distro's or any other ISO to create a bootable USB device.

  12. Personally, I find using diskpart a lot easier than messing with Rufus. I do it that way because I usually get my ISO's via MSDN. If your using the MCT though, just let it create the bootable thumb drive for you. The ISO via the MCT is updated periodically, even so, you will likely get one cumulative update via Windows update to make your install current. The next update to the MCT likely won't happen until the Creators Update is released.

I think it's worth mentioning, though, that the MCT you have downloaded will always download only the ISO that was available at the time you downloaded the MCT. In order to get the most up-to-date ISO file, you must download the most up-to-date MCT.

  14. Very good point. And not something that is obvious to most people. I only figured it out myself via trial and error.

Me too, I leaned from my error when 1607 came out *Sad
Last week I deliberately used the 10240 MCT because I wanted its .iso for testing. I can confirm it still downloads the original release.
