Windows 10: Need help fixing sudden death of touchpad on Aspire Go 14

My friend was just watching youtube, when suddenly his touchpad drivers stopped working. We are thinking that what caused it is, that either windows put the device to sleep because it was likely inactive for a long time Power saving setting. We tried uninstalling the drivers and seeing if it would reinstall, since when we went to device manager and checked for the hidden drivers. We saw that the touchpad driver was transparent, and greyed out and the driver didnt have a disable or enable option.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

• Press Windows key + W and type
  troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2:If issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers in Compatibility mode and check if it works:

Follow the steps to uninstall the touchpad driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key.
• Click on Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Hi Derek,

I would suggest the following steps :

• Press Windows + X
• Click on Device Manager
• Right click on TouchPad drivers in the list.
• Choose Upgrade Drivers
• Reboot computer

Check if this helped to fix the issue.

 

Synapis Touchpad Reinstall

I accidently uninstalled Synapis Touchpad after resetting my PC, and need help reinstalling it. My touchpad currently doesn't work and Synapis isn't listed under Mice and Other pointing devices in the device manager. Tried installing it using Acer's driver
website but it doesn't auto download. I can't update the driver as it isn't listed in device manager. Thanks for the help.
