Windows 10: Need help fixing Windows reading/generating multiple outputs from 1 game controller

made a post in r/techsupport a few days ago and nobody has said anything

My computer has been working fine for well over a year and a half with this. I would plug in my scuf vantage 2 controller into my pc via USB, it would make a few funny usb connection sounds, and after 5 seconds i could use it with no trouble whatsoever.
Then windows updated and ruined my week. look i already made another post about this but i think ive narrowed down the problem. It's a conflict of drivers (pretty sure). the computer is trying to set up too many controllers for this one actual controller. i want to control what the computer does so i can play some goddamn resident evil 6 in peace

heres what happens

plugged in alone after a fresh restart:
USB Game Controllers - 6 axis 14 button hat switch
Other Devices - HID-compliant game controller
- scuf controller (audio)

start up RE6
input only registers 1 set of inputs as 'Pad1'
button icons show as numbers rather than xbox/ps symbols
start up x360ce like ive been doing for over a year

Windows pops up a notification that its setting up a device. before it would say "setting up an HID-compliant device" or something, now it says "setting up virtual controller (xbox 360 for windows)

plugged in alone after starting up x360ce:
USB Game Controllers - Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)
Other Devices - HID-compliant game controller (x2)
- scuf controller (audio)

at this point (or whenever the x360ce would have trouble recognizing the controller inputs), i would just unplug and plug back in and it would work fine. itd go from not registering anything to picking up everything perfectly. however, now when i do this:

controller plugged in ->
game doesn't recognize controller ->
start x360ce ->
translates controller input into xbox controller input ->
windows translates 6 axis 14 hat switch into virtual xbox controller ->
x360ce no longer tracks controller input ->
unplug and replug ->
x360ce now recognizes controller input, but registers it under 6 axis 14 hat

so the computer does fine on its own with the 6 axis hat, but windows butts in and tries to set up its own virtual controller. and yes, ive tried disabling/uninstalling that, but every time i do, it just reinstalls/reactivates the next time i plug the controller back in and i cant figure out how to stop it

in addition to that, the game itself doesnt seem to see the controller anymore, but im assuming/hoping that fixing this software problem will solve that one too

look i wouldnt be here if i wasnt at the end of my rope. for the love of god please help me

glory of generals game dont work on windows 10

• What happens when you launch Glory of Generals game?
• Do you get any error message/code?
• What do you mean by “it just to big to appear on the screan”?
• Is this issue specific only with Glory of Generals game?

I suggest you to install the Glory of Generals game in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

1. Right-click on the setup file of the game and select Properties.

2. Select Compatibility tab.

3. Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

4. Let the game run and then check the functionality.

Game controller ID settings

Hi Joe,

Thank you for the update. I understand your concern.

I would suggest you to look for the Devices settings in Control Panel and check if the game controllers are listed. If so, refer to the following steps to alter the settings and check if these are helpful in resolving your issue.

a. Right click on one of your game controllers and click Game Controller Settings. Note where in the list it is. If it is not at the top proceed to the next step.

b. Right click and remove all your other controllers (not the 360/gamepad) and let them reinstall automatically.

c. Once complete right click and check the list again and see if the 360 controller/gamepad is at the top. If so, give the game another try and see if it detects your controller.

If the issue still persists, restart your console and then try to reconnect your controller.
