Windows 10: Need help installing a program not from the app store

This happens when I try to install most things. It comes back with a message stating "installer is running." I sometimes can end the install program in task manager and that it will allow me to install this program. But that isn't working right now. I've tried to have windows repair the issue but it comes back stating that there are errors it cannot fix. I have even updated windows with repair. There is nothing running in the background and I have shutdown the system many times, nothing is working. I went into UEFI and turned off secure boot. I don't have outside virus software running. Can't install apps from the Windows Store

I understand your inconvenience. We will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to the location,

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb

• Delete everything in this folder.

Note: This shall delete all the Windows Store files and update. You may have to reinstall the updates.

Apps won't install in Microsoft Store

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



We understand your concern as you are unable to install apps in Microsoft Store. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers
to the questions below:

• 
  Do you have any non-Microsoft antivirus program installed?
  
• 
  Does this issue occur for all apps from the store?
  
• What is the date and time on the PC and ensure it is correct?

Meanwhile,
we would suggest you to perform these steps and after every step check if you are able to install the app.



Step
1: Reset the Windows Store Cache: Press the Windows
Logo Key + R to open the Run
dialog box, type wsreset.exe, and then select OK.



Note:
A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close and Microsoft Store will open automatically.



Step 2: Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter: Select the
Start button, and then select Settings>Update & Security
> Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows
Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.



Step 3:

Step 4: If you have any non-Microsoft security/antivirus software installed, disable it temporarily and
then try installing the game.



Step 5: If the issue persists, then we would suggest you to create a new administrator user account and
check, refer this article to create
a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.

Unable to install Apps downloaded from Windows Store

I suggest that you perform the steps mentioned below and check if the issue occurs.



Step 1: Run App Troubleshooter.

Note: The troubleshooter automatically fixes some issues that might prevent your apps from running, including suboptimal screen resolution and incorrect security or account settings.

• Type “Troubleshooting” in the search box and press Enter.
• Click on ‘View All’ on the top left pane.
• Click on “Windows Store Apps” from the list and follow the on-screen prompts for troubleshooting.

Step 2:

If the issue persist, I would suggest that you un-install and re-install the app from Windows Store.



Note: Exit store when trying to re-install the app.
