  1. Need help moving SSDs to a new build

I recently swapped out my motherboard (thanks to the redditors who helped me last week). I had to wipe my boot drive and do a clean install of Windows 10.

I'd like to transfer the other SSDs from the old pc over though (they don't have an OS on them, just game files I'd like to keep). However, they're formatted for the old PCs hardware. I want to know if I plug them into this system now, if everything will just show up smoothly.

  2. Moving SSD with Windows 10 installed to a new build?

Planning on building a new PC fairly soon once the RTX 3080 releases. Probably going to replace everything in my current build with the exception of my three hard drives, one of which is an SSD with Windows installed on it. Is it possible to simply move
the SSD to the new build and have it boot? Or do I need to do a fresh install of Windows on the new machine? If so, how do I go about removing windows from the SSD without losing all of my data?

    Thanks in advance!

Moving SSDs to New PC Build Windows 10

I have two SSDs, one of which holds my windows 10 OS. I bought all new parts (except GPU) so I am moving my SSDs and GPU into the new case with new mobo, ram, cpu, etc. Someone on these forums mentioned around March of 2016 that Windows 10 is much more
adaptive than previous windows when moving to a new PC and that I can virtually plug and play the SSD into the new build and just reactive and do some clean up for the drivers. Will I really just be able to plug the SSD into the new PC? I completely expect
to uninstall as many drivers as possible before I shift it all and also anticipate having to update or fix some bugs, re-enter the activation code, etc. But, for the most part, I can get it going again just by plugging it in? Would love if windows has gotten
to a level that we can easily do this!

Thank you for your reply and time!

    SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling/vibrating. Possible?

This has been suggested several times already, and it has been suggested you try to move the SSD, remove it, or even suspend it in your case. Will you please try one of these?

If you don't understand vibration and resonance, please refer to @dorsetknob 's post above. *Smile Need help moving SSDs to a new build :) It has been explained that something else moving/vibrating (even if you don't think they're vibrating they are...), fans, hard disk drives, and anything with a motor will cause some form of vibration at certain frequencies. This can be transfered through your case's chassis and where you mounted your SSD could be reaching a certain frequency that causes it to slightly move and rattle against the case.

We are suggesting you take action and report back..you keep asking questions from step 1...we should be on step 4 by now...that is solution.

Try what has been suggested and report back please. Otherwise all you're doing is leading this thread in an endless circle and the help will stop shortly thereafter.

    *Toast :toast:
