problems with displaying my resolution

I posted this on NVIDIA long ago and didnt get any help. maybe someone here can help. this is what i posted

I just had a 8500 GT installed, and i have a 19" wide screen LCD with a 1440x900 optimal resolution. Before with my Intigrated 6100 graphics i had the option of setting the Resolution to my monitors Native Resolution. But after this install. the display settings does not list
1440 x 900. Everything but that.

. So now, either i am forced to veiw at a low Resolution and go blind by the Blur or at a higher Resolution but with everything Skewed or streched out or out of frequancey range . am i now going to need to buy a new monitor that supports a higher Resolution. I have looked in both the Nvidia controls and the Windows display settings for a remedy but my resolution is not listed

I have called Nvidia and was told that my native display resolution is an oddball resolution and not very common ,and that the Graphics card does not support this resolution 1440 x 900. I looked at the release notes for the driver, and infact seen that my resolution is not listed in the supported resolutions for the 8500. But i beg to differ in the comment that it is a oddball resolution. if you look at all the new LCD 19" wide screen resolutions that are being sold on the market today have the resolution 1440x 900 as the native resolution . could you please include this resolution in the next driver release. or tell me how i can fix this issue. so i dont have to spend $300-$350 for a new monitor.


Can anyone help with this. I have Vista and NVIDIA does not include the Nveiw with vista anymore that gave the ability to customize your display settings . and another Question . why does my display settings menu say that i have a generic Non plug n play monitor?

 

I have two display adapters showing...

Looking at Display Adapters in Device Manager of my Thinkpad 540p laptop I see two display adapters listed, an Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an NVIDIA GeForce GT730M. The reason I was looking was that I am having some issues with some photo display software and it was suggested that hardware GPU acceleration could be the problem and I was checking that the drivers are up to date (they are). My question is: do I need both these adapters to be enabled? Could they be conflicting? I am hesitant to disable anything without asking advice first. Can I disable (say) the Intel adapter without seriously disabling my machine?

 

Need help on my display

I need help on setting up my display. I will try to explain my situation.
Last year I bought Samsung SyncMaster 305T plus to replace my 19 inch CRT (MAG Innovision). I thought it will be as simple swap as changing the cable but I was wrong.
For some reason, I cannot display anything on my new LCD, it show blinking colour (I think it does not like the resolution or whatever previous setting I had) so I connect my old CRT back but not disconnecting the new LCD (LCD using DVI and CRT using VGA).

I'm surprised when I set the display to clone what shown on CRT it work without changing any resolution setting. After a bit testing I found out, I can only clone the display from CRT to LCD with limited option for resolution. I tried to update the driver but does not help.

After further testing this what I find:
*I only can use my LCD if my CRT is connected, even I switch CRT off as long it connected to my computer, my LCD can display the screen.
*highest resolution I can get was 1280x756, higher than that my LCD will only blink (1280x800 or 1280x900 will display something but I need to scroll my mouse to see the rest of my display.. is this scaling?)

Today I thought I will give it a try again. I downloaded new driver from Nvidia (182.50), after I install the driver, it show I had problem with my display adapter (code 10) even Nvidia 6600GT listed in the supported list. Whenever I try to scroll it scroll very slowly and the resolution available only 800x600 and 1280x?. So I tried to install back the old driver but then something seem to be different, I can change to higher resolution than before and to my surprise I can unplug my CRT VGA cable. I played a bit and I can display higher resolution but my problem now my monitor cannot display everything, I need to move my mouse to the edge then the display will scroll around (is this what it mean by scaling?).

So yeah, thats my current situation now, any advice how I can keep display high resolution but without scrolling around my display? Thank you.
