Windows 10: Need Help reinstalling msiexec.exe

I have the same problem as this guy , but the reply provided him with a download to rename as "msiexec.exe" but it was from 2024 and it doesnt work for me is there a more recent download or another fix thank you

what does msiexec /unregister do

In my post I already said I can still install the msi file after I used the msiexec /unregister command

I never said anything about EXE file.

So what does msiexec /unregister command do specifically? In other words if I do not use the command msiexec /Regserver to registry back. What will happen?

I agree with Ed although not sure in-place upgrade can help. But it is simple to try it. In the case of msiexec problem persists:

- install clean system
- install some imaging software
- make system image
- install all your software one-by-one using the following steps
-- install one program
-- test if msixec can run
-- if yes then make system image and continue with next program installation
-- if no then you discovered the problematic program; restore the system from recent non-affected image.

The command (msiexec /unregister) is used to unregister the installer service in Windows for software that comes in the .MSI format, not the .EXE format.

Then, usually the person runs this command (msiexec /regserver) to re-register that service.
