  1. Need help removing user folders from One Drive

I'm trying to move everyone in our family over to DropBox for backup of our personal docs, photos, files, etc. My kids PCs (Dell boxes running Win10 Home) came with OneDrive out of the box and I'm trying to figure out how to move all their personal folders (Docs, Photos, Desktop, Videos, etc) out of OneDrive so I can back them up with DropBox.

I uninstalled OneDrive but of course that didn't change any of the mappings. So I then went into Explorer, right-clicked on the folder properties, went to the "Location" tab, and then reset it to default. This worked for everything but three folders - Desktop, Documents, and Photos.

I then followed the tips here to try and manually reset the folder links back to default. But after a reboot, those three folders are still mapped to OneDrive, not their standard location (i.e. "C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Pictures" instead of "C:\Users\username\Pictures"

    Any advice?

  2. Removing a "hidden" user and user files

Thanks for your patience. I was able with "Net User" to remove the left over user. It no longer appears when I invoke Net User.

Now for the user's folder which remains behind. After performing the series of steps that you suggested, I attempted to delete this folder. The result again was an error message about permission

"Administrators" appears on the list in the list of advanced security.

  3. Cannot access shared network drive

I could scream! so much time wasted on this stupid error, as if time is not precious enough!
It probably would work fine if I could see the other computer! But I cannot see the other computer!

    Moving the USERS folder

Sysprep (Windows System Preparation Tool) is the native built-in Windows tool that does the job in this procedure, getting instructions about what it is expected to do from a script called Answer File.

If you have external storage available for backing up your personal data, the easiest way is to copy your files to external storage.

I edited my previous post, making the list in it numbered. Check that list: In step 1 you can copy your files to external storage instead of making a new partition on your hard disk. In step 7 you can either remove all partitions and create new ones or simply format existing partitions and use them. In step 9 you can copy your personal data from external storage to your new user folders. You can then forget the step 10.

These tutorials are from our sister site the Seven Forums but they apply to Windows 10, too:
