Windows 10: Need help updating Intel RST services for Acer Desktop.

The past week i experienced several freezes with my rig which forced a reboot every time. Using Driver Easy i found out i had nearly twenty ! outdated drivers.Those freezes are now gone after updating the whole lot but now i face a new issue. Intel RST Sevices refuses to launch on start up and attempting to start the application manually causes it to crash. On the Intel website they recommend to download a version of this driver from the website of the manufacturer of my pc Acer in my case for maximum compatibility.The problem is that i cannot find such a download after b

The Intel RST service is for the Intel Rapid Storage Driver. The Intel Rapid Storage Driver provides speed for data transfer and improves the performance for SATA drives or PCIe drives.

You can follow the methods mentioned below and check if that helps:

Method 1: Changing the startup type for Service

You can try changing the startup type for the Intel RST service and check if that makes a difference. Please refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type serivces.msc and click on
   OK.
   
3. Now, scroll down, look for Intel RST service, right click on it and click on
   Properties.
   
4. Now, under startup type select Automatic from the drop down menu.
   
5. Click on Apply and OK.
   

Method 2: Updating the drivers manually

You can try downloading the latest version of Intel Rapid Storage Driver from the

Intel Website and check if that helps. However, I would suggest checking with the motherboard manufacturer website as well.

Intel RST service is not running

Windows 10, 64-bit.

The desktop taskbar icon says that the Intel RST service is not running and I can’t get the application (or at least the UI) to open.

The thing is that the service IS running (as per Task Manger etc), consuming CPU merrily. I tested this by unplugging one of my RAID 1 drives, causing the info on the RST display at startup to report status as “degraded”, then plugging back in which changed
status to “rebuild” and then (eventually) back to “normal”. So, all’s well with the actual operation of RAID.

Installed Intel Driver & Support Assistant, which says that everything is up-to-date.

Can anyone help me with the problem here with the application/UI?
