Need help with occasisonal micro-freezes of system, memory related?

    Hey guys!

A little while ago a system that's been performing perfectly fine up 'till now started getting these 1-3s freezes every few hours for no perceivable reason. I thought it might be a GPU issue at first since the screen sometimes blinks out too but not always, but it didn't seem to matter what kind of a load the PC was under and I started noticing more freezes when opening up new programs and such that wouldn't really stress the GPU by might load things into memory.

As a precaution I uninstalled and reinstalled GPU drivers anyway, ran a bunch of malware scans nothing, and so on.

I posted to this subreddit first but got no help, perhaps something I said there could be useful here still: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/jyji2i/occasionally_system_hitchesfreezes_during_normal/

This also means I ran all of the tests they suggest here: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/33evdi/suggested_reading_official_malware_removal_guide/

It was only when I ran "Windows Memory Diagnostic" that I finally got a result, though it was only "Your computer has a memory problem." At least it's something! Need help with occasisonal micro-freezes of system, memory related? :p

I ran Driver Verifier next following the guide that's on here somewhere and got "DRIVER_VERIFIED_DETECTED_VIOLATION" there was no "xxxxx.sys", just that errors pretty much instantly upon booting until I loaded a restore point. I tried reseating my RAM just in case but it's hitched once since then so the problem is not gone.

    DxDiag result: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3cy22ca6cvdblz5/DxDiag.txt?dl=0

Dump from Driver Verifier crash it only generated the one, there were no other dump files once I went to restore point: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ugkelz1nj7eufq8/120620-8546-01.dmp?dl=0

Also ran MemTest64 for 3 hours but it didn't find anything.

It seems pretty conclusive that it's a RAM problem, but the RAM itself seems fine... What do I do next? ;D

    :)

  2. System Reserved Memory issue

    Hi Rowan,

The reduction in available system memory depends on the configuration of the following:

    • The devices that are installed in the computer and the memory that is reserved by those devices
    • The ability of the motherboard to handle memory
    • The system BIOS version and settings
    • The version of Windows 10 that is installed
    • Other system settings

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest that you check your system for memory problems.

    Here's how:

    • Type mdsched.exe in the search bar and select the best match.
    • When prompted by the User Account Control, enter an admin user name and password, and click
      Yes.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run it.

Let us know how it goes.
