Windows 10: Need help with storagespaces

Hi,

I hope I'm in the right sub to ask this. I need some help with storagespaces.

A few years ago, I installed 2 1TB hdd's in my pc, and put them in a storage space. (As a raid1 failsafe) Now I have a backup drive in a NAS, so I want to put one of the hdd's in another PC, as I no longer need the failsafe).

Storagespaces now tells me that there is something wrong with the drive. (Obviously, it's not there anymore). Is there a correct way to tell windows I no longer need the "raid", without it whiping the present hdd? Or is there a simple way to delete the (no longer present) hdd?

Any help is appreciated.

Upgrade StorageSpace in windows 10

I think it's not a driver problem. I mean, it's a function named StorageSpace in control panel.(might be named "storage space and pool" in Windows8/8.1, my windows10 is in Chinese Language). It's like this:





It means "Upgrade this pool to apply new fuctions, for example, optimize HDD usage, and unload unused HDDs safetly." in red zone. And I don't know the full list of these new functions, and what I will actually lost. So I cannot decide whether upgrade it
or not.

My Windows 10 is ver 1511. And my external HDDs in this storage pool is in a HDD box connected with a USB 3.0 cable.

It seems that the system firmware driver are not update or might be issue with the System GUI.



I suggest you try the below steps and check if it helps.

  Download and install the latest firmware driver form the manufacturer’s website.
  
• 
  Update all the system drivers.
