Windows 10: Need Help With TDR Error (nvidia)

Ever since upgrading to Win10 my system continues to crash whenever I have my driver for my geforce 8800gt enabled. Always freezes and then bsod and tdr video error. I've done everything so far that I've found on the net to try and fix it. Only thing that works is disabling the driver. I am on my last leg here. If I can't fix it soon then it's back to win7 for me.*Mad

Nvidia drivers problem

Hello.

After changing new hard disk,my Nvidia GPU driver won't work.When i'm trying to run something with Nvidia GPU the errors comes out, such as (blu screan with WATCHDOG VIOLATION, Tdr VIDEO INTERNAL ERROR, and e.t.c with (nvlddmkm.sys)
file).I alredy reinstalled Windows (Windows 10 my OS), i installed all new drivers and nothing helps.

I have an Aspire e5-573g

CPU - Intel i7-5500 2.40GHz 2.40GHz

GPU - Intel HD Graphics 5500 , Nvidia GeForce 940m

RAM - 8 GB

I don't see that there are drivers newer than Windows 7 for the 790i Ultra motherboard chipset.

Maybe going back to 7 would be a good idea.

You are not the only one. I have a 9800 GT and the same bsod tdr issue. I have tried everything and nothing fixes it. If I have any work to do on my pc that I cannot afford to lose I make sure I disable the card first.
I cant trust my pc anymore.
It worked fine in win7.
I even bought a gtx950 card and it was worse. It gave me black screens and then froze the pc forcing me to do a hard reboot to get control back.
Nvidia and microsoft have a lot of work to do.

 

Install 347.88 Nvidia driver if you can find it then use the windows fixit to hide newer drivers (see forum tutorials). In mine and others experience 347.88 is the last stable driver for win 10, no use if you are a gamer though.

 

Thank you banger. I will try that in a virtual environment. I already went back to win 7. couldn't take it anymore. LOl.

 

I ended up getting rid of my nvidia 9800gt and installing an amd R7360-OC-2GD5 and all is well now. I have given up on nvidia and microsoft fixing the bsod issues. I am happy to say that the asus amd card has worked flawlessly. I suggest ditching nvidia as I did. Trust me it is worth it to have a pc you can trust that will not bsod on you when doing something important.

 

You could just as easily have used an older stable driver, especially since 1) that card is basically useless for gaming and 2) the new drivers are mostly aimed at newer gaming cards for win10, and obviously your card will never do DX12. Not to mention you are using drivers made for the 400 series and up which you clearly don't have, and while you obviously can load win10 onto your computer that kind of graphics is also kind of incompatible, whether it's official or not But enjoy your new card and old OS *Biggrin

 

I am not sure what post you are replying to.

For my situation I am using my older pc with Windows 10 and a new amd r7 360 and it works flawlessly with all new drivers.
This card [does] support dx12 by the way.

Nvidia and its drivers were the problem all along - and I am glad that I ditched them and went with amd.
