Windows 10: Need help with touchpad/keyboard issue + media flickering

Hi all,I am using Windows 10 on a HP laptop with the integrated Synaptics touchpad. A couple of weeks ago I started noticing some seemingly unrelated issues that would all occur together at the same time. My computer oscillates between periods like 1-2 hours of normal functionality and periods of dysfunction. I haven't identified any triggers it just happens out of nowhere. Issue #1: The cursor freezes, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes indefinitely. I can still click things with the physical mouse buttons, but not by tapping. Pressing any key on the keyboard will often kick the touchp

Screen Flickering while playing videos and touchpad issues

I understand your query related to playing 4K videos on your PC and touchpad not responding properly. For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below:

1. What is the exact model number of the PC?
   
2. Do you face the same flickering issue if you play a full HD video?
   

Concerning towards the screen flickering query, it could be possible that the PC screen doesn’t support 4K and that might be the reason you are facing the flickering. One of the things that I suggest is to try playing a 1080p (full HD) video and see
if the same issue occurs.



However, you can also try changing some settings in NVidia Control Panel and see if that helps.

1. Right click on Desktop and click on NVidia Control Panel
   
2. Now click on Display > Advanced Desktop color settings.
   
3. Now, set the content type to this display as
   Desktop Programs or Full Screen Video.
   
4. Click on Apply.

ASUS touchpad and keyboard problems

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



I would recommend you to reset the drivers for your keyboard. To reset the drivers, please follow the following steps:

1. Right click on the start button and open Device Manager.
   
2. Under Keyboards, you will find Standard PS/2 Keyboard.
   
3. Right click on it and click on uninstall.
   

Then restart your computer which will reset the drivers.



Note: If you find multiple options under keyboards, uninstall the drivers for all the options listed (only under keyboards category) and restart your computer. Also you can follow the same steps to fix the issue with your touchpad
(if it still persist). Touchpad drivers will be posted under Mice and other pointing devices.

Touch Keyboard Issues after Updates

Hi,

It is possible that the settings of the touch keyboard is having an issue and that can be the reason why it flickers. As an initial troubleshooting step, we recommend setting up the touch keyboard in "window mode" and change it back to "full screen mode"
to refresh its settings. To do this, follow these steps:

• Access the touch keyboard.
• On the upper left part of the touch keyboard, click the keyboard settings icon.
• On the second row, select the second option.
• Close the access the touch keyboard, and then re-open it.
• Check if it will flicker. If it did not flicker, access the touch keyboard settings icon again.
• On the second row, select the first option.
• Close the access the touch keyboard again, and then re-open it.
• Check if it will flicker.
