Windows 10: Need help with using Switch Pro Controller for games bought from the Windows 10 store.

Hello everyone,

Please warn I am a massive noob when it comes to PC stuff, as I just got a lovely new gaming laptop. I was excited to get Game Pass for PC on the Windows 10 store and started to download some ones I have wanted to play for a while, Doom Eternal & Killer Instinct.

But I have a problem using the Switch Pro Controller everything I use it, the game flickers between Controller and Keyboard, making it hard to navigate and play the games.

I have been searching for hours on how to solve this, I used UWPhook to transfer the games to Steam to try launch there and hoping it would use the controller config from Steam, does not work. Tried using Betterjoy to solve it, no luck either. On Killer Instinct it would not recognise the D-Pad or Triggers when trying to map. The right stick on the pro controller is mapped to the mouse, if that helps any further?

The controller works perfectly on Steam, but any games on Windows 10, it is just keeps changing between keyboard and controller.

Could anyone give me a definitive way of solving this, as my hours of researching has nearly put me over the edge

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller not being detected by Windows 10

We appreciate your effort on this. We understand that when you connect the Nintendo Switch Pro controller to the computer, it is not being detected, we will look into this for you.



However, it would be great if you can help us with the details requested below:

• Does the Nintendo Switch Pro controller gets detected in any other computer?
  
• Were you able to use the Nintendo Switch Pro controller earlier on your current computer?
  
• Is any other USB Device detected on your computer?
  
• Do you see any Unknown device or a yellow yield sign on any device in Device Manager?
  
• May I know the troubleshooting steps that you have tried so far?
  

To check for unknown devices, you can press Windows key + X, and select
Device Manager.



If you see any Unknown device or a device with yellow yield, right click on the device and select
Update Driver.



However, we would also suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the article

Error: “USB Device not recognized” when you try to access a USB external hard drive. except Method 1 and 2 and check if that helps in resolving the issue.

Game controller ID settings

Hi Joe,

Thank you for the update. I understand your concern.

I would suggest you to look for the Devices settings in Control Panel and check if the game controllers are listed. If so, refer to the following steps to alter the settings and check if these are helpful in resolving your issue.

a. Right click on one of your game controllers and click Game Controller Settings. Note where in the list it is. If it is not at the top proceed to the next step.

b. Right click and remove all your other controllers (not the 360/gamepad) and let them reinstall automatically.

c. Once complete right click and check the list again and see if the 360 controller/gamepad is at the top. If so, give the game another try and see if it detects your controller.

If the issue still persists, restart your console and then try to reconnect your controller.
