Need help with weird ping/latency situation.

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit to go to, as this is affecting games such as CS:GO and league of legends.

Ok here is some details worth noting:

    1. My old PC would get latency around 36-37 every game, no difference in league. On CS:GO it would get around 45-50. Everything is normal there. My old PC was originally windows 8.1, but I updated to windows 10 somewhere along the way.
    2. 7 months ago I got myself a new PC, way better than my old one in every way. However it is apparent that ever since I got my new PC, my ping in league would coinflip either 40ms or 50ms. What I also don't understand is that it's not like my ping increases over time in the SAME match. I can be 40ms for the whole match, finish, queue up again to find myself with constant 50ms. In CSGO, my ping would now always be a stable 70ms.
    3. I am using the same network method. I am using an ethernet connection into a wifi disc. So I guess its like fake wifi idk. It clearly worked better on my old pc so who knows.

What's even more weird is how a couple days ago, I was suddenly on 33ms stable for multiple matches of league. I even checked my ping on CSGO and it was the lowest ive ever seen. That only lasted for 1 day though. The next day it was back to the usual higher pings.

I know this is not the end of the world and 50ms is perfectly playable, but clearly something is not right and its annoying to know that I could be playing on much lower ping than what i'm on.

Lastly, if this could help, I saw this thread which seems to perfectly match my issue but didn't offer a clear solution, but if this could help identify the problem then here it is: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/old-pc-less-ping-in-games-new-pc-high-ping-in-games.3427335/

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. latency ping

Hello JOHNLEIBNITZER, I am Andrew an independent advisor. What did you ping to get this latency? Is your network wired or wireless?

Latency can come from MANY sources, even outside your house out of your control. The internet provider could have a busy network and cause this latency. We can do some a few things in your control to help but may not improve the latency if its out of your control.
46ms ping is not all that bad actually. For example, my home network is 48ms at this time when pinging google.com.

Open the command prompt and enter ping google.com check the results. To try to help you can type ipconfig /flushdns in the command. Unplug the power from the router and your ISPs modem to reboot them. Then ping google.com again.

If you see no improvement as I said it could very well be out of your control what is causing the latency.

    Take Care,

    Andrew

    Weird ping spikes? Help please

For the last week or so I've been getting very high ping spikes whilst browsing online. I'm using a wireless connection but the weird thing is when I run a speedtest it says I still have 14 ping, and when I use cmd to ping google I get these results. I'm not sure what is causing this and it's interfering with watching videos, or streams. Can anybody help?
