Windows 10: Need old printer drivers for HP LaserJet 4 Plus printer

My Windows 10 crashed and had to reinstall windows 10 as well as all other software. The Windows 10 which crashed did not crash because of the printer driver or printer, however when I reinstalled Windows 10 and other software, Windows does not have the printer drivers for HP LaserJet 4 Plus and that is the only printer I have. It is 30-years-old and is still working. Can't afford to buy another printer. HP doesn't provide service for the above printer any longer and I can't seem to get a response for support. Please help!

Please post a link to the software+drivers page for that printer to save everybody else having to search for it.
e.g.

• HP LaserJet 4 Plus/m Plus Printer series
• HP LaserJet 4L/mL Printer series
• HP LaserJet 4/4m Printer series

I agree with trying a replacement cable first.
If it was my printer then I would next try uninstalling the whole software package for this printer [including its driver] and then reinstalling the whole lot [including its driver].

Do you know which update messed things up?
Are any errors shown in Device manager, 'Control panel, Devices & printers'?

Install HP LaserJet 4M Plus

Printer is connected to router with EtherNet cable, was able to print test page which gives IP Address of: 10.0.0.81, and did find drivers but attempting to install with any of the LaserJet 4 drivers listed below, gives the error message, "Printer Driver was not installed".

This printer has both Postscript and PCL personalities.

Settings>Devices>Printers & Scanners>Add Printer and Scanner>[Clicked on the text, "the printer I want isn't listed"]>chose "Add a local printer" using existing port 10.0.0.81>did Windows Update and each of the following LaserJet drivers for this model of printer failed to install:

HP LaserJet 4 Plus
HP LaserJet 4/4M Plus PS 300
HP LaserJet 4/4M Plus PS 600
HP LaserJet 4/4M PS
HP LaserJet 4/4M PS (300 dpi)


the USB port mentioned in the 400 day old post on this topic was not a choice.

rig is an i9 7900X running at 4.5GHz w/32 GB Ram with an Asus X299 MOBA.

 

HP Laserjet 4/4 plus printer driver not working on win10

I am trying to install my network attached HP LaserJet 4 plus printer on my new Win10/64 laptop. I go through the process and point to the correct IP address, create the port, use Windows Update, select the correct printer, name the printer, and when the
driver tries to load, I get a message that says: "Print Driver Not Installed", and it returns to the name the printer screen. I was able to install the driver by downloading it from the MS Update catalog web page (Microsoft Update Catalog),
but you would think it would work using the windows update button when installing the printer since it lists the correct printer. It seems to be an issue with that particular printer, as my HP Color LaserJet 2600n installed as it should from windows update.
Any Ideas?

My Laptop is an HP Envy 17 running Windows 10 Home 64 bit. Version 1803, Build 17134.48.
