    Need to bypass/otherwise get past current admin password


    Long story short, I need to install some software on my laptop to help with school. In order to use the software I need to put in the administrator password. However I am not technically the administrator of my laptop even though I am the only one who uses it. My father is technically the admin. However, here's the problem: my dad passed away last year so I can't exactly ask him for the password. The only password he left does not work so I am assuming he changed it at some point while he was still using the laptop. I have been trying everything I can think of to fix this issue. I have been at it for about a week with no success. I called Microsoft support but they were no success and seemed not to understand how I needed help. I understand that this is somewhat of a unique problem and that Windows 10 probably is not designed for the death of one the people that uses it. However, I still cannot use my laptop for what I need it for right now. The only way it seems I could fix this problem was if I was admin. I have been scouring the Microsoft forums for days but I can't find any answers. I would appreciate ANY help or advice that someone could offer, whether you work for Microsoft or not. I just cannot figure this out on my own and the issue is becoming more pressing by the day. Please, any help would be appreciated. Have a nice day.

    admin password?

    You can reset the Admin Password using Windows XP repair; See Here for step by step.

    ok changed added admin password for d in safe mode!
    Ok, now this is weird: XP repair will not accept my new password! WTF?

    Ok, I know these questions have been asked, but I have tried everything I can understand.
    Need to be spoken like a noob - step by step please.
    Win10 put on my system everything initially fine, then discovered files missing - tried to install a recover program to be frustrated by a prompt to input an admin password with User [USER-PC\USER]
    I have tried every password ever used.
    I have tried going to cmd prompt
    I cant install anything to circumnavigate because I cant get past this dialogue.

    any suggests?
