Windows 10: Need to cancel a cox cable account and backup email, but it's NOT stored locally

My elderly dad is locked down in a senior facility that I cannot enter to help with his computer directly.

Before moving there, he had a Cox cable email account that we need to close, but I want to make sure old mail is accessible.

He used Microsoft Mail on his Win10 computer that he still has with him.


Though posted msgs online say "Win Mail stores email locally--just back up the .eml file",

I wanted to prove it first. And many of those comments are years old.

We disabled his internet and tried to access old mail, either in Inbox or SENT folder.

The oldest that showed was only 2 months old, and at the bottom

of the list it says something like "to see more, search online".

Of course, clicking that with no inet had no results.

We turned his inet back on, and years of email showed up.


So it seems pretty clear that email history is on the server and NOT stored on his hard drive.


How can I make sure all the history is downloaded so we have it available for historical lookups later?

setting up cox email in outlook

When setting up my cox email in outlook I used the wrong password and of course the outlook can not sync with my cox email account. My problem is that I can not change the password. Each time that I change the password and save it the old password appears
when I reopen the cox email in my outlook. Any suggestions on changing the password and making the save work?

Problem not resolved. Until it is, I will have to use cox webmail on the internet to get my mail. This is very undesirable. The issue is in Outlook. When I set up the cox account in Outlook, I used the wrong password. Now Outlook will not sync with cox
because of the wrong password in Outlook. In Outlook, I have tried to change and save the cox password, delete the cox account and reestablish it all with no success. I can not change the outlook password used to set up the cox account in Outlook. Every time
I reopen the cox account in Outlook the wrong password is listed. I can not change it to the correct password in order to sync my Outlook account with the cox account for my email. I have requested that Microsoft delete the current password so that I can input
the correct one and have received no response.

 

Can not add Cox email account to Win 10 Mail client

I am quite frustrated with the change over to Windows 10.

Like others I experience difficulty in setting up a second email account...Cox email.

Spent a long time with Cox who then directed me to Microsoft for the answer.

I have used the Advanced option and tried Imap and Pop.

Have not been able to use this email on my laptop. I have no difficulty with the email account on my ipad or iphone.

Can anyone help?
