  1. Need to clear rtc/ reset cmos every time i want to turn on my pc

Hi, I recently built my own pc using my old psu , cpu and storage. It was working brilliantly until i turned it on one day and my monitors, keyboard and mouse didn’t connect. After a lot of trial and error i found out that the way i can get my monitors, keyboard and mouse to connect and have a display is through resetting cmos every time i want to turn on my computer. Even when it has power, it doesn’t turn on without a cmos reset. then i have to force boot through the bios to get a display and connection to my keyboard and mouse. I would love to be able to fix this issue because it is not onl

    :)

  2. RTC time not update issue and system rebooting meanwhile.

    Hi,

Please suggest what is the reason behind the problem that am facing.

Problem statement: My desktop did not update RTC time when i turned on my PC after 2+ months, then it has started rebooting itself for 3 times and RTC time is updated this time.

please help me finding the reason behind this.

Is it due to RTC cell issue or the BIOS issue.

Clocks keep stopping when PC is closed

My suggested test to see if CMOS battery or RTC (real-time-clock chip) is bad:
    1. While logged in to tablet confirm date and time are correct in Windows after you have set them.

    2. Shutdown/power off your tablet. Disconnect the charging plug from Tablet if connected. If it has a removable battery, take it out (I'm not referring to the CMOS coin battery here, but rather the "laptop battery").

    3. Wait 15 minutes with Tablet off/charger disconnected/battery removed (if possible). If it has a removable LT battery, try to turn the LT on several times and just go to the next step without waiting the full 15 minutes.

    4. Turn tablet back on and immediately go into BIOS and check the date and time.
    a) If time or date are incorrect, it seems like the CMOS/RTC (real-time-clock chip) is defective or as @dalchina suggested, the CMOS coin battery needs to be replaced.
    b) If the time and date are correct, exit BIOS and let Tablet boot up, then log into Windows. If the time and date are still wrong as you usually see (but were correct in the BIOS), I conclude it's some other problem besides the CMOS battery or RTC.

    Hope this helps. *Smile
