Windows 10: Need to close my deceased Father's account but cannot as it seems hacked

My Father passed away last year and we kept his account open as we needed several emails from his account as he was helping my Sister. However when trying to close his account none of the verification codes gets through to his email account. What to do. Don't want to turn his computer on just in case. Think someone may be trying to keep it open.ThanksTony

Microsoft describes how to close a Microsoft account here: How to close your Microsoft account. Ultimately, everything will
be taken care of.

It will be easiest if you can sign in as your father (you would have to know his password) and close the account yourself. Another good choice is to visit a Microsoft Store (if there's one nearby) or call a Microsoft store.

 

Closing a hacked account

Hello, my Microsoft account was hacked and my credit card used to purchase games. I want to close the account but i am unable to do so. Microsoft know my account was hacked as they told me but have been no help whatsoever in either refunding my money
or cosing my account. Can I close the acount on line.

My father passed away last april and I asked to close his account through email in the beginning of july. I also stornated the subscription fee on july 11th. Only today I saw the amount was once more paid through the apparently still present incasso. So
once mmore I would like to close his account and also to pay back the unjustly paid amount on july 19th.
